Muftau IdrisFull-Stack Developer & Engineering Student

Engineering ideasinto systemsthat hold up.

I build modern web applications, design the databases and permissions behind them, deploy them and keep them running — for schools, businesses and communities in Nigeria.

01How I build

One owner, every layer.

Pick a layer to see what I do there and where you can see it. The dashed one at the bottom is where I'm heading next.
The layers I work acrossAn exploded isometric drawing of four stacked layers: interface, application, data and infrastructure. The infrastructure layer is dashed, marking the direction I am growing toward: DevOps.INTERFACE → INFRASTRUCTURE04 — INFRASTRUCTUREVercel · DNS · Git → DevOps03 — DATAPostgreSQL · Supabase · Firebase02 — APPLICATIONTypeScript · Auth · APIs01 — INTERFACENext.js · React · Tailwind CSS

Next.js · React · Tailwind CSS

Interface

Server-rendered React that works on a cheap phone over mobile data. Mobile-first layouts, accessible forms and keyboard support, and full right-to-left layouts where a product needs Arabic.

See it in Markaz il Ginna · EKSU Sports Hub

TypeScript · Auth · APIs

Application

The rules: who is signed in, what they are allowed to do, and what a valid request looks like. Checked on the server every time — never only in the interface.

See it in Kandy's Treats · Markaz il Ginna

PostgreSQL · Supabase · Firebase

Data

Schemas designed around the real business, versioned migrations, Row Level Security, append-only histories for money and records, and real-time updates where people are watching live.

See it in EKSU Sports Hub · Kandy's Treats

Vercel · DNS · Git → DevOps

Infrastructure

Deployments, domains and DNS, environment configuration, object storage and production debugging. The layer I'm growing into next: CI/CD, containers, infrastructure as code and observability.

02Selected work

Software people rely on, not just look at.

Schools, a kitchen, a university sports community and a social network. Each one has real users, real data and rules that have to hold.

Currently learning

DevOps engineering

My next direction. I already handle deployments, domains, environment configuration and production debugging on my own projects. I'm now studying the wider discipline — CI/CD pipelines, containers, infrastructure as code and observability — and I'll list those tools here when I have shipped work that uses them.

04Trajectory

An engineer's path into software.

A progression of interests and skills, not a list of titles. The degree is still in progress, and DevOps is where I'm heading.
  1. 01Ongoing

    Mechanical Engineering

Studying at Ekiti State University. Physics, systems thinking and the discipline of working to a specification.

  2. 02Foundation

    Software development

HTML, CSS and JavaScript first, then Firebase-backed apps with sign-in, real-time data and file uploads.

  3. 03Current work

    Full-stack applications

Next.js, TypeScript and PostgreSQL. Permissions, payments, bilingual interfaces, migrations and live systems people depend on.

  4. 04Direction

    Infrastructure & DevOps

Deployment pipelines, environments, monitoring and the systems that keep software running. Learning it the same way: by building.

The full story is on the about page.

05Console

Prefer the command line?

So do I. Ask it about my projects and skills, or open a case study without touching the mouse. There are a few things in there I didn't list.

Play DEBUG.EXEDefend production from incoming bugs. Works on phones.

06Working with AI

Faster tools. Same standards.

AI tools are a normal part of how I work. They make me faster at the parts of the job that are about reading, searching and drafting. They don't replace knowing what correct looks like.
  • Prototyping

Sketching an approach quickly so I can judge it against a real constraint before committing to it.

  • Code analysis

Reading unfamiliar code, tracing a data flow, and asking what breaks if this changes.

  • Debugging

Narrowing down a failure from logs and symptoms, then confirming the cause myself.

  • Research

Comparing approaches and reading documentation faster — with the source open beside it.

  • Workflow

Drafting tests, migrations and documentation that I then review line by line.

  • Learning

Asking why, not only how, while I study infrastructure and DevOps.

Ground rules

  1. 01

I decide the architecture and I own every line that ships.

  2. 02

Anything that touches money, data or permissions is tested, not trusted.

  3. 03

I use AI to build software. I don't build or train AI models, and I don't claim to.

Currently exploring

What I'm reading, testing and breaking on purpose.

  • DevOps & CI/CD

Automated checks and deployments, preview environments and safe rollbacks.

  • Infrastructure

How hosting, databases, storage and networks fit together, and what they cost.

  • Observability

Knowing a system is unhealthy before a user reports it.

  • AI-assisted engineering

Using AI tools well: faster delivery without lowering the bar on review and testing.
